The Central Government vide its notification no. 50/2017-Central Tax dated October 24, 2017, stating that late fee for filing GSTR-3B for the month of August and September will be waived off. This yet again has come as a lift for all the registered taxpayers.

As per GST regime, the late fee is Rs. 100 per day on Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) and Rs. 200 per day on State GST (SGST). Since the government had earlier delayed the penalty for the month of July, the businesses appealed to delay the penalty for 3B Returns.

In accordance with Finance Minister, taxpayers who have already paid the late fee, the amount will be credited back to their account book.
