Mutual Fund Investment: How to File Complaint as an Investor


Being an investor it is important that one should be aware about their rights and duties. It is chronic that most of the investors these days are sufferers. The main cause behind the same is that investors are themselves doped about their own rights and duties. To help the investors the government from time to time has been providing sound knowledge for buying and selling in mutual funds by launching websites have been launched that are run by investor’s association.

The thermostat for mutual funds and stock markets i.e. Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has a tab on its website called ‘Investor Complaints’, and when you click on it, it will take you directly to, a site maintained by SEBI itself. It is an online software system where all investor complaints are monitored by the regulator till it is resolved properly, to the regulator’s satisfaction. This software is named as SEBI Complaints Redress System (SCORES)

It is airy to file complaint on the website. Once you complete the registration form, the complaint will be filed and acknowledgment will be generated with a reference number. SEBI has assured to redress the complaint in a time-bound manner i.e. 30 days. After a few days, if you want to know the status of your complaint, the system will show you the current status. Once the reply from the party involved reaches, SEBI official will look into it to see if the complaint has been redressed to SEBI’s satisfaction. It’s closed only after the regulator is satisfied that it has been redressed properly.

A helpline site is also available i.e. for investor’s grievances. Other sites where you can invest is government-run Investor Education and Protection Fund’s site that are solely a helping hand to investor and their interest.
